I have an avid curiosity and a keen sense of observation of fellow human beings, qualities which make me well suited to my current job which is that of a trend analyst. I have both an analytical and creative side, which is not a very common combination. This enables me to analyse and explain in a way that’s visual, written and easy to understand.

Having excelled at Mathematics during my schooling years, I chose to study Actuarial Science. A career in the arts was highly frowned upon and, in spite of creativity bringing me much joy, I decided to follow the path laid out for me.

Working in the Actuarial field confirmed for me that Mathematics and financial services, which I had the aptitude for, was not the right path for me. Fashion design brought me the right combination of analytics (patternmaking) and creativity (designing). I had amassed enough savings to pursue this path.

My work involves extensive research from a multitude of sources (news, social media, academic studies, surveys, statistical reports, etc.) from a local and global perspective. It involves keeping my finger on the pulse of every new idea, innovation, social movement, etc. I use this research to compile trend articles and reports. The insights gained from this research and writing are used to help future-proof our clients’ businesses.
