my mum
i sometimes called her mummy
when she was my primary school teacher
i still call her mummy sometimes
stylish as her younger days
fitter than her daughters
when you get the chance to sit it out or dance
she always dances
an ever present zest for life
and new experiences
she convinced her parents to let her finish school
played netball in her 70’s platform shoes
once won a highest heel competition
at a fair when we were children
she brought me almonds when i studied
and imbued me with a love of learning
now also an adored nani
this heart of our family
